The Best Spots for Photos in Brighton (From a Local Wedding Photographer)

Apr 30, 2026

Brighton is basically a dream when it comes to photo locations. You’ve got the sea, colourful streets, iconic landmarks, and loads of quirky little corners that just work on camera.

If you’re planning a wedding, elopement, engagement shoot (or just want some cool photos), here are some of my absolute favourite Brighton photo spots that always deliver.

The South Lanes – Cobblestones & Cute Corners

If you want that classic Brighton charm, the South Lanes are the spot.

Think cobbled streets, tiny alleyways, and rows of old jewellery shops that feel like they’ve barely changed in years. It’s got that slightly chaotic, romantic energy that works so well in photos.

You can literally just wander here and find magic everywhere – a tucked-away doorway, fairy lights overhead, or a quiet little side street away from the crowds.

Perfect for:

  • Couples who want something relaxed and candid
  • Storytelling, “walking together” shots
  • A slightly vintage Brighton feel

North Laine – Colour, Chaos & The Komedia Legs

The North Laine is Brighton at its most fun and unapologetically weird.

This is where you’ll find bold colours, independent shops, record stores, Snooper’s Paradise, street art, and of course… the iconic Komedia legs outside Komedia Brighton. And also, the Photomatic shop which is perfect for fun Photo Booth pics!

It’s got loads of vibey streets with murals and textures that make photos feel really alive and full of personality.

Perfect for:

  • Fun, quirky couples
  • Colourful, fun shots
  • A more alternative Brighton vibe

Quadrophenia Alley & Shop – Proper Brighton Culture

The Quadrophenia Alley area is such a cool nod to Brighton’s mod history.

You’ve got the shop itself (full of retro goodness), plus the graffiti-covered alley nearby which adds loads of texture and attitude to photos.

It’s gritty in the best way and gives something totally different compared to the softer, seaside spots.

Perfect for:

  • Edgy, urban-style photos
  • Music lovers
  • Couples who want something a bit less “pretty” and more real

The Royal Pavilion & Gardens – Brighton’s Iconic Beauty

You can’t really talk about Brighton without mentioning the Royal Pavilion.

It’s iconic for a reason. The architecture is wild (in a good way), and the gardens give you loads of space for relaxed, natural shots.

You get a mix of grandeur and greenery, which works beautifully for couple portraits.

Perfect for:

  • Classic wedding portraits
  • A mix of elegant and relaxed shots
  • First-look or just-married moments

Hanover – Colourful Houses & Proper Community Vibes

Hanover is one of those places that just feels like Brighton.

Rows of brightly coloured houses, cute streets, and a proper neighbourhood feel. It’s a bit quieter than central Brighton too, which is always a bonus.

Every corner feels slightly different, so you can get loads of variety without going far.

Perfect for:

  • Colourful, fun backdrops
  • Laid-back couples who want something less touristy
  • That “just hanging out together” vibe

Hove Beach Huts – Soft, Pastel Dreaminess

The beach huts in Hove are honestly just chef’s kiss.

Soft pastel colours, clean lines, and loads of natural light bouncing off the sea. It’s simple, but it works every single time.

It’s also usually a bit calmer than central Brighton beach, which makes everything feel more relaxed.

Perfect for:

  • Light, airy photos
  • Minimal, aesthetic vibes
  • Sunset sessions

The Doughnut Groyne – Brighton’s Hidden Gem

The Doughnut Groyne is one of those spots that people either don’t know about… or absolutely love.

That circular structure out in the sea gives something really different composition-wise, especially for wide shots and silhouettes.

It’s amazing at sunset or on slightly moodier days when the sea has a bit of movement.

Perfect for:

  • Creative, slightly different shots
  • Silhouettes and framing
  • Couples who want something a bit unique

Palace Pier – Fun, Nostalgic Energy

The Brighton Palace Pier is pure fun.

Lights, rides, candyfloss vibes… it’s got that nostalgic seaside feel that makes photos feel really alive.

It’s a bit busier, but if you lean into it, it works so well.

Perfect for:

  • Playful, energetic shots
  • Arcade games, ice cream and fairground rides
  • Couples who want a bit of seaside kitsch!

West Pier – Moody & Atmospheric

On the flip side, the West Pier is all about mood.

It’s more stripped back, slightly haunting, and incredibly beautiful in a different way. Especially at sunset or on a windy day (which is very Brighton).

Perfect for:

  • Dramatic, emotional shots
  • Silhouettes at sunset
  • Windswept, real moments

Brighton Seafront Shops & Restaurants – Classic Seaside Vibes

The seafront isn’t just about the beach — the little shops and restaurants along it are full of personality.

You’ve got places like Brighton Rock Shop with its super colourful displays, and the iconic Regency Restaurant which brings that classic seaside nostalgia.

These spots are brilliant for adding context and storytelling into your photos — grabbing chips, wandering along, or just soaking it all in.

Perfect for:

  • Documentary-style moments
  • Nostalgic, seaside storytelling
  • Adding a bit of Brighton culture into your gallery

Coffee Shops & Pubs – Cosy, Real Moments

Brighton is full of amazing independent coffee shops and pubs, and they’re such an underrated photo spot.

Whether it’s grabbing a drink, sitting by a window, or just escaping the wind for a bit, these spaces add a really natural, documentary feel to your photos.

And honestly, it’s a great excuse to just chill for a minute.

Perfect for:

  • Candid, storytelling moments
  • Rainy day backups
  • Couples who want their photos to feel like them

Cool Side Streets & Wall Art – Brighton’s Hidden Personality

One of the best things about Brighton is what you don’t plan.

Some of the coolest photo spots aren’t landmarks at all — they’re the random side streets, back alleys, and bits of wall art you stumble across while wandering between locations.

Around the North Laine and beyond, you’ll find constantly changing murals, pasted posters, colourful doorways, and layers of graffiti that give every shoot a slightly different feel. No two walks are ever the same, which is kind of the magic of it.

It’s also where things feel the most natural. You’re not “posing” in front of a big landmark — you’re just hanging out, exploring, and that always comes across in the photos.

Perfect for:

  • Candid, in-between moments
  • Couples who don’t want anything too staged
  • Adding texture, colour, and personality to your gallery

Final Thoughts

The best thing about Brighton is that you don’t need to over-plan it.

Pick a few of these spots, wander between them, stop for a drink or a snack, and just enjoy it. That’s usually when the best photos happen anyway.

Weddings aren’t meant to feel like a photoshoot marathon. The more you lean into the day and just have a good time, the more your photos will actually feel like you.
