This one is for my fellow music lovers! If you are a big music fan like me, then trying to find songs to soundtrack your wedding day could feel like an epic mission. So that’s why I decided to compile a playlist of some of my favourite alternative songs that could work perfectly on your wedding day – or even just provide a lil’ inspo. Yes a little bit of cheese can work well on a wedding day but if, like me, the thought of spending all of your wedding day listening to Ed Sheeran makes you die a little inside, then here is my list of alternative wedding songs. I’ve created a playlist of some of my favourite songs that could be perfect to walk down the aisle to, play in the background during dinner or even have your first dance to. There is a real mix of tempo here from fast and upbeat, slow and emotional to dramatic, building songs, depending on the vibe you are going for.
And if you like what you see here, check out my Indie Dancefloor playlist to keep your guests moving and grooving all night long to songs you actually like!

Depending on your vibe, this selection of songs vary from upbeat songs to dance down the aisle to, right to those slower songs that really hit you in the feels for your first dance!
I’ve added some of my all time favourites along with some quirky covers of some classic pop songs to cover lots of bases for alternative songs on your wedding day!
Maggie Rogers – Love You For A Long Time
Yeah Yeah Yeah’s – Hysteric
Big Thief – Velvet Ring
For Lovers – Pete Doherty
Slide (Cover) – Hazel English

Sea of Love – Cat Power
The Boy – The Smashing Pumpkins
Into My Arms – Nick Cave
Where’d All The Time Go? – Dr Dog
Teenage Dream (Cover) – Stephen Dawes
Fake Empire – The National
Don’t Delete The Kisses – Wolf Alice
Fade Into You – Mazzy Star
Dream Of You & Me – Future Islands
Tonight, Tonight (Cover) – Snail Mail

Give my playlist a follow if this kind of music is your jam as I will keep updating it with songs that I think could work perfectly during a wedding day. When planning music for your wedding day, consider all those little moments that might need a little soundtracking. From signing the register, to the walk back up the aisle as newlyweds to everyone sitting down to eat. But most importantly, make sure it reflects who you are together – even if it is a little cheesy 😉
