Pelham House Wedding Guide

Pelham House, Lewes Weddings

I do a little happy dance every time I get an enquiry for Pelham House! It is fast becoming one of my favourite venues for weddings.  Situated in the heart of beautiful Lewes, just outside of Brighton, it is an absolute hidden gem.

The building itself is a large, Georgian, townhouse that has only been used as a wedding venue since 2018.  Despite being located just off the High Street, down the beautiful St Andrews Lane, it has gorgeous gardens, views onto the South Downs and 28 bedrooms available for you and your guests.

Getting Ready at Pelham House

One of the (many) things I love about Pelham House is that they offer two stunning locations for morning preparations.  The most spacious of which is The Dressing Room on the second floor of The Courthope Mews. This is a beautiful converted barn building just opposite the House, providing room for you and your crew to pamper and prepare ahead of the big day. It’s full of beautiful space and light – perfect for hair, make up and of course, photos!

Inside the house itself is the smaller Powder Room. The Powder Room offers space for the partner that perhaps got ready at home and just wants to do the finishing touches on arrival. Or alternatively, just a beautiful room to relax with a pre-wedding drink with friends! The Powder Room also stays open during the day if you or your guests need to pop in for some chill time or to touch up any make up.

Not only does having these two rooms make your life easier on the day, it also means I can dart between the two of you and get some amazing prep shots of you both separately before you walk down the aisle.

Ceremonies at Pelham House

The Goring Room

The Goring Room is a stunning, romantic room inside Pelham House. This is perfect for weddings in the cooler months, or if you would rather opt for an indoor ceremony.  It is perfectly suited for both intimate weddings and larger weddings with a capacity of up to 125 seated or 150 with some standing.

The Gazebo

If you’d rather tie the knot alfresco, The Gazebo offers the perfect space for outdoor ceremonies. With views of the South Downs in the distance and plenty of space for your guests, it’s perfect for summertime weddings.

Receptions at Pelham House

After the ceremony, grab a drink from the bar in The Garden Room and schmooze with your guests! You can all have a wander out in the terrace or relax inside. It’s the perfect time and space for me to capture some cute candids of you all living your absolute best lives!

The Blencowe Room

Dinner is served in the gorgeous Blencowe Room. With beautiful lighting, wooden panels and marble towers, it’s a stunning setting for your Wedding Breakfast and speeches.  So grab your bubbly and get ready to laugh your way through the speeches as I sneak around the room capturing all those hilarious reactions!

After dinner, the Blencowe Room is transformed into the perfect dancefloor space for you and your guests to get on your dancing shoes! It’s gorgeous for those first dances and late night boogies with all your mates.
