If you prefer to get ready separately or away from the venue there are plenty of accommodation options nearby, including country inns, boutique hotels, and Airbnbs, ensuring you can have a relaxed morning before the celebrations begin.

Southlands Barn offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony options, allowing you to tailor the setting to your vision and the season. They are fully licensed for wedding ceremonies, so a perfect option if you want your ceremony and reception in one venue. The barn itself provides a gorgeous rustic backdrop with exposed beams and twinkling fairy lights, ideal for a cozy, atmospheric ceremony. Alternatively, if you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding, you can have the ceremony outside in front of the pergola with beautiful views of the South Downs and a breathtaking setting for an alfresco ceremony.
Reception Drinks and Dinner with a View
After saying ‘I do,’ you and your guests can enjoy reception drinks in the barn’s courtyard, in front of the barn or the bar area. At Southlands Barn’s, we really are spoiled for choice when it comes to wedding photography backdrops. The rolling Sussex countryside, the rustic barns, and picturesque fields create a stunning setting for couple portraits. Sunset shots here are particularly magical, we can drive down to the lake for some gorgeous evening reflections! We can get a mix of indoor and outdoor photos, as the barn’s interiors also provide such a great backdrop. For group photos, we can capture either inside the barn or outside in front of the pergola with the countryside as the background – perfect! And all of these spots are within minutes of each other, meaning you won’t need to leave the fun for long.
Parking, Accessibility & Accommodation
Southlands Barn offers ample parking for guests, and you are welcome to leave your car overnight and collect the next day (with maybe a sore head or two!). Accessibility is good, with step-free access to key areas, making it inclusive for all guests.
In terms of capacity, Southlands Barn can accommodate up to 150 guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, with space for additional evening guests, making it a versatile option for weddings of different sizes.
There is no onsite accommodation, but there are plenty of guesthouses and BnB’s locally.
