As 2024 draws to a close, and I’m enjoying all the Christmas cheese and wine, I can’t help but reflect on all the amazing weddings I’ve captured this year. It has been filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments across stunning venues and my amazing couples. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights that made this year so special.
Epic Confetti
2024 was such a vibe for confetti moments! From Lucy and Zak’s rainbow explosion at Montague Farm to the confetti cannons onstage for Amy and Dan, every toss felt like a mini party. Alex and Jack chose gorgeous red, orange and pink confetti discs, and Megan and Charlotte strutted their stuff through confetti holding a ‘Just Married’ sign. Honestly, there’s just something about that unfiltered joy when confetti’s involved, and this year didn’t disappoint.
Fashion Highlights
Wedding day outfits is a chance to truly let personalities shine, and I’ve had the joy of photographing some incredible style moments this year! Sophie wowed everyone with her unconventional choices—a stunning black dress for day one of her wedding and a dazzling sequin dress for day two. Alex kept it cool and chic with a mini dress and a gorgeous tiered veil, perfectly paired with Jack’s pink suit for a pop of colour. Chris and Dee embraced timeless elegance with classic black tie vibes, while Amy’s gold jumpsuit, handmade by her sister-in-law, brought all the vibes. And let’s not forget Paul and Guy, who looked effortlessly dapper in crisp white suit jackets that added a touch of festive flair to their Christmas seaside wedding.
Dancefloor Joy
If 2024 taught me anything about wedding dance floors, it’s that couples are all about creating energy, connection, and unforgettable vibes. Emma and James set the tone with their indie playlist, featuring an epic first dance to Fatboy Slim’s Praise You that had everyone joining in before the song ended. Lara and Joe brought quirky charm with a swing band, complete with Joe himself jumping in to play the accordion during the reception—I LOVED this. At OhSo, Lucy and Harvey’s guests packed the dance floor overlooking the sea, proving that Brighton weddings always bring the party. Theresa and Matt’s Chapel Barn celebration was an indie music haven, where nostalgic anthems kept the night alive. Meanwhile, Maddie and Stu and Chris and Dee both upped the ante with live saxophonists weaving through their dance floors, creating electric moments that left everyone buzzing. From heartfelt first dances to packed floors, this year’s couples brought individuality and soul to every beat.
Magic Ceremonies
2024 has been an unforgettable year for capturing ceremonies that were full of heart, personality, and laid-back vibes—everything I LOVE in a wedding! From Sophie and Joe’s intimate backyard ceremony in Joe’s mum’s garden, surrounded by flowers and a chilled atmosphere, to the many love-filled Brighton Town Hall ceremonies that make the most of this vibrant seaside city, every moment has been uniquely special. One of my standout highlights was Pippa and Tyler’s outdoor ceremony, where they danced joyfully down the aisle while their friend played guitar and sang—a perfect reflection of their fun personalities. Jack and Alex also put their own twist on tradition, walking down the aisle to their favourite song performed live by a close friend on guitar, creating an intimate and emotional moment. Whether you’re dreaming of a quirky festival vibe or a laid-back seaside celebration, 2024 proved that couples are bringing their own blueprint to their ceremonies—and I am so here for it.
Creativity and Personality
Weddings in 2024 were all about personality and creativity—couples fully embraced the chance to make their day uniquely theirs. Amy and Dan’s DIY wedding at Wagner Hall was a perfect example, with Amy transforming the space into a dreamy, playful venue and Dan wowing everyone with his homemade feast. I’ve also loved seeing cardboard cutouts of pets popping up at weddings this year—celebrating furbabies is such a wholesome trend! Charlotte and Megan’s reception at their favourite brewery was a true reflection of their shared love of craft beer, while Lucy and George took things to the next level with a two-day celebration: a heartfelt ceremony featuring their dogs one day, followed by a party the next, complete with jaw-dropping dancefloor lighting designed by George himself.
Capturing Love Across Brighton and Beyond
Brighton’s charm has been at the heart of many weddings I photographed this year. From intimate elopements at Brighton Town Hall to joyous celebrations at local venues like One Garden, The Better Half, and BHASVIC, I’ve loved capturing the essence of this vibrant city. Each couple brought their unique story, whether it was Sarah and Mike revisiting the pier where they got engaged or Kate and Kit’s return to Brighton, the city where their love story began.
A Year Filled with Love
Looking back on 2024, I’m reminded of why I love my job so much. I finished the year on a high note with Paul and Guy’s heartwarming Christmas wedding in Brighton. Despite the windy seaside weather, the day was filled with family, joy, and festive spirit—a perfect way to close out an incredible year. Being a wedding photographer is more than just capturing pictures – it’s about preserving the emotions, connections, and joy that make each wedding unique. To all my couples: thank you for letting me be part of your story.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As I reflect on the year, I’m also excited about what’s to come. One of the highlights I’m especially looking forward to is photographing my very first destination wedding in Greece. It’s a dream come true, and I can’t wait to capture the beauty of a wedding set against such an incredible backdrop. I’m looking forward to meeting more amazing couples, exploring new venues, and continuing to document love in all its forms. If you’re planning your wedding in 2025 and looking for a photographer who will capture the real, unposed moments that make your day special, I’d love to hear from you.
